About Us

Black Tea Productions is an up and coming theatre company based in Toronto, Ontario. It was founded by Rebecca Young Hart and Erin Hamilton, both graduates of the theatre program at Bishop’s University. It is our aim to create innovative pieces that enhance the theatre experience for our audiences. We are also always seeking artists of all mediums, as well as professionals of all walks of life to collaborate with and expand our visions.

We have been fortunate to have had a very successful year. Our premier show DANFORTH by Adam Hunter Collier was part of the 2011 SummerWorks Theatre Festival - which was an amazing way to start things off. DANFORTH showcased a vibrant Toronto neighbourhood, The Danforth, and being Toronto natives it deeply resonated in our hearts.

Following DANFORTH, we adapted The Story of Mrs. Winchester by Adam Hunter Collier. Performed at the vibrant Loft 404, this show epitomized our vision for innovative theatre that enhances the experience for the audience. To say it was theatre in the round is a bit of an understatement! This show was performed with the actors and audience on the same level sitting amongst one another. We stimulated the senses with scent, sound and even touch. During and following the show, the oh-so-talented Justin Faubert performed live music. It truly was a show for the audience.

These days, we couldn't be happier to be part of Stella Artois Presents: The Tennessee Project. It is such a unique project and another way to send a love letter to this beautiful city. We will be performing The Unsatisfactory Supper by Tennessee Williams but rest assured, this play is far from unsatisfactory. We can't wait for y'all to see it!
